And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Curtis Dodson!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Eddie Farnsworth and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dodson does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Young misses with a body shot.
Young slips a straight right by Dodson.
Dodson attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Young misses with a hook. Dodson ducked under it nicely.

Young swings for the body but Dodson moves out of range.
Young lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Young lands with a shot to the body.
Dodson takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Young ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Dodson moves away.
Young misses the shot to the body.

Dodson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Young manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Young has momentary wrist control but Dodson slips an elbow through the middle.

Young tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Dodson wants to control from the top but Young keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Young is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

It looks like Dodson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Curtis Dodson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Dodson shoots in looking for a takedown but Young manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Dodson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Young dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Jimmy Young seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dodson takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Young connects with a single shot there.
Dodson takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Young avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Dodson misses with a few strikes there.
A telegraphed right hand from Young misses the target.
Dodson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Young sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dodson somewhat.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Young is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Young avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Young uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Dodson has time to react.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Dodson dives in and grabs Young's left leg, looking for a takedown. Young pushes down on Dodson's head and hops out.

Young drives through with a takedown into Dodson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Young will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Young got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dodson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Young has managed to get both his arms back between Dodson's legs - danger averted.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Young comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Young fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Dodson manages to avoid it.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Curtis Dodson was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Dodson has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.

Young lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Dodson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Young.
The crowd cheers as Young lands an impressive looking overhand right. Dodson doesn't seem phased though.

Young throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Dodson on the side of the head.

Dodson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Young moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Dodson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Young throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Dodson stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well Young has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
