PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Beam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is disturbed - down with the sickness. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jim Beam!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie ducks under a wild hook from Beam.
Beam misses with a straight left.
Beam swats away the attempt to clinch by Gracie.
Gracie throws a series of punches but Beam moves out of range.
Gracie blocks a jab.
Gracie slips a straight right by Beam.
Beam throws a jab but it's blocked by Gracie.

Beam throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Gracie ducks under a wild hook from Beam.

Gracie cracks Beam with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Gracie throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Beam on the side of the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Beam looks to land a left hand but Gracie moved out of range nicely.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gracie digs a right hand underneath Beam's ribcage. Beam let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Gracie breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Gracie fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Beam, pushing him back against the cage.
Beam is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Gracie has a couple of punches blocked by Beam.
Gracie fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Beam is working for takedown but Gracie is calmly controlling the position for now.
Gracie lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Gracie breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Beam takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Gracie misses with a hook.
Beam shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Beam takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Chuck Gracie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jim Beam.

Beam throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Gracie tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Beam is in Gracie's guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Gracie working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Beam doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Beam manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Gracie tries to buck Beam off but Beam is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chuck Gracie dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Beam uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gracie.
Gracie moves out of range as Beam strikes.
Gracie darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Beam slips a straight right by Gracie.
A big left from Beam misses.
Gracie slips under a jab from Beam.

Gracie lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Beam gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Gracie.

Beam looks to throw the jab but Gracie is out of range.

Gracie is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Beam.

Beam takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Beam shoots for a double leg takedown but Gracie sprawls well. He's pushed Beam's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Beam has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.

Beam shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gracie pinned against the cage. Gracie gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Beam uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gracie.
Gracie avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Beam dives in and scores a takedown into Gracie's guard.
Gracie might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Beam takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Gracie throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Beam not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Gracie pushes a forearm under Beam's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Beam is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
