Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Renzo Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Demarcus Ryans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryans has chosen DMX - Bring Your Whole Crew as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Renzo Rua! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Demarcus Ryans! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Russell Pearce and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ryans throws a right and a left that both miss. Left hook, right uppercut from Ryans. Ryans connects with a nice looking jab.
Rua on the wrong end of a nice jab. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ryans gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rua to score an easy takedown into full guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Ryans can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rua controls the pace. Rua stands and throws Ryans's legs to the side, diving into side control. Ryans seems a little lost for a moment, as Rua dominates the positioning. Ryans avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Rua. Ryans pushes Rua away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Rua gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rua working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Ryans wants to get back to his feet but Rua drags him back down. Ryans looks gassed! Rua decides to take the fight back to the feet. Rua rushes Ryans and presses him up against the cage. Rua goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ryans wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Ryans manages to break the clinch.
Ryans throws a series of punches but Rua moves out of range. Rua misses with a series of wild punches.
Rua throws a head kick but Ryans moves out of range.
Rua lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Ryans throws a right and a left that both miss. Renzo Rua seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Rua drives through and clinches with Ryans against the cage.
Rua tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ryans just stands there and leans against the cage. Ryans is pressed up against the cage. Rua has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Ryans down to the mat. Ryans avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Ryans throws the left hand but Rua avoids the punch easily. The fight moves into the clinch position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ryans wants to break free but Rua has control.
Rua keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ryans's efforts to push away. Rua changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Ryans fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Renzo Rua. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rua feints and as Ryans raises his hands in defense, Rua changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Ryans being controlled here, momentarily. Ryans can't keep his opponent in guard - Rua advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rua content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Rua stops Ryans from getting back to his feet.
Renzo Rua has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Ryans lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rua circles away quickly and effectively. Demarcus Ryans is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Rua throws a nice inside leg kick. This has been an exciting period of action! A head kick misses from Rua. Rua moves into the clinch successfully.
Ryans working hard to break the clinch. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Rua successfully pulls guard.
Rua pushes Ryans off and scrambles back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Renzo Rua dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Rua shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ryans sprawls well. Ryans wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rua gets slowly back to his feet. Rua closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Rua decides to stand back up. Rua dodges the punch combination from Ryans.

Ryans moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Rua throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Ryans tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Rua is in Ryans's guard. Rua is stalling in the full guard. Ryans is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Rua dives into side control.
Ryans is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rua working the body and head with strikes. Ryans being controlled for a moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ryans is trying to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ryans is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Ryans is trying to escape the position but Rua is controlling the position. Rua has hold of Ryans's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Ryans tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Rua cranks the arm and Ryans screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Ryans, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Renzo Rua!
