The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Betoli takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Akayev misses the shot to the body.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Akayev, right into the meat.
Akayev is looking to slow Betoli down with leg kicks.
Akayev misses with a wild body shot.
Akayev looks to land a body kick but Betoli moved away.
Betoli takes one to the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Akayev takes a swing at Betoli's ribcage but misses.

Betoli shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Akayev napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Akayev dodges the ground and pound from Betoli.
Akayev is looking to regain half guard here but Betoli keeps moving and retains side control.

Betoli is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Akayev is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Akayev is looking to reverse the position.

Betoli tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Akayev gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Akayev tries to get to full guard but Betoli has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Akayev gets full guard.

Akayev working for a triangle but Betoli defends it easily.

Akayev has his foot on Betoli's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Betoli works his way back into a safe position though.
Betoli wants to control from the top but Akayev keeps moving.
Akayev wants to sweep but no luck.

Akayev working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Betoli doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Betoli manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Betoli sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Akayev's guard.
Akayev wants to get back to full guard.
Akayev regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Betoli.
Akayev is trying to control the position but Betoli postures up.
Betoli throws a strike but Akayev rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Akayev looking to improve position, pressing down on Betoli's thigh with his hand. Betoli seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Akayev paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Akayev's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Betoli picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
