The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rios ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Rios displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rynes.

Rios throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rynes tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Rios is in Rynes's guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Rios drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rios jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Rynes seems a little lost for a moment, as Rios dominates the positioning.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rios has an Americana. Rynes didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Rios is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Rios hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

A determined Diego Rios didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
