PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shane Carwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wilford Pure (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Wilford Pure!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carwin closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Carwin takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Pure misses with a double jab.
Pure scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pure scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Pure lunges at Carwin with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Carwin's hand.
Carwin fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Pure avoids it really well and circles away.
Pure throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Carwin.
Pure connects with a looping right hand.
Pure looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Pure moves into range and clinches up with Carwin.

Pure breaks from the clinch.
Nice jab there from Pure.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pure scores with a jab. Carwin acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Pure throws a right and a left that both miss.
Carwin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pure tries to avoid it but Carwin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pure to the ground. Pure escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Carwin takes one to the side of the head.
Pure tries to bum rush Carwin with a series of wild strikes but Carwin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Pure scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Pure throws a monster overhand right that drops Carwin! Pure follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Wilford Pure!
In his post fight interview, Wilford Pure started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
