PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jaspar Fletch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mo Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lee has chosen Snoop Dogg - Who Am I as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jaspar Fletch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mo Lee!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fletch fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Fletch doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Lee counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Lee.
Fletch takes a knee to the side of the body.
Fletch misses with a hook to the ribs.
Lee is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Fletch takes an elbow to the forehead.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Lee's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Lee throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Fletch tries to pull guard but Lee forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Lee is trying to drag Fletch to the mat but Fletch just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Lee creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Fletch goes for a takedown attempt but Lee pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Lee defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Fletch.

Lee gets tackled into the cage by Fletch. Fletch maintains the clinch.

Lee gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Fletch regains guard.
Fletch has momentary wrist control but Lee slips an elbow through the middle.

Fletch throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Lee escapes and throws Fletch's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Fletch is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Lee gets to mount! Fletch was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Lee has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Lee lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Lee takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fletch is trying to maintain the position but Lee is very close to passing his half guard.

Lee is taking a breather. Fletch says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Fletch manages to get to full guard.
Lee slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Lee with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Lee got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fletch has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lee has managed to get both his arms back between Fletch's legs - danger averted.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Lee tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Fletch manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Fletch shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lee as he jumps to the side.

Lee drops an elbow to the side of Fletch's head.
Lee seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Fletch wants to get back to full guard but Lee has passed into side control.
Lee lands a nice forearm strike.
Lee takes a little break here. Fletch wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Fletch is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Lee drops an elbow to the side of Fletch's head.
Lee is controlling the pace.

Fletch is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Lee works his way into full mount!

Fletch knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lee on the ground.

Lee is pushing down on Fletch's leg trying to pass to half guard. Fletch is fighting to maintain full guard but Lee has managed to sneak the leg through.

Lee looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Fletch wants to sweep but Lee has passed to side control!
Lee cracks Fletch with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Lee tries for a kimura but Fletch is defending well.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lee lands a nice forearm strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mo Lee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Jaspar Fletch is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fletch looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lee is fending him off so far but Fletch persists. Nope, Lee circles away and we're back to standing.
Fletch looks to score with a jab to the body but Lee is just out of range.

Lee moves in looking to clinch but Fletch pushes him off.

Lee tightens his grip and picks Fletch up, before dumping him to the ground. Fletch manages to land in guard.

Fletch is looking for a triangle but Lee pushes his legs off easily.

Lee is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Mo Lee has got the better of the ground game so far.

Mo Lee has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Lee gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Lee lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Lee has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Fletch clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
You can see the frustration on Fletch's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Lee is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Fletch defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Lee keeps control of the position as Fletch tries to break free.

Lee has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Fletch.
Jaspar Fletch has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Fletch wants to escape the position.
Mo Lee is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Lee has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Fletch's body.
Fletch can't escape the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Can Fletch hold on?! Lee is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
Lee has good solid back control here.

Mo Lee comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lee has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Mo Lee spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
