Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Morrison! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dominick Cruz! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cruz scores a takedown into full mount! The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Morrison is working to get back to half guard.
Morrison manages to regain half guard. Good work. Morrison looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Cruz pushes past his half guard into mount! Morrison is trying to escape the mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cruz gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Morrison fails with a takedown attempt. Cruz throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Morrison was covering up waiting for the punch and Cruz finishes the takedown easily into guard. Cruz preventing the sweep. Cruz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Morrison. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Morrison throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Cruz must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Morrison is looking to take a break and control but Cruz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Morrison thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Morrison wants to free his trapped foot but Cruz is holding on for dear life with his legs. John Morrison overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Cruz pushes Morrison off looking to stand but Morrison dives back in and keeps control.

Morrison postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Cruz looks a forlorn figure.

Cruz takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Morrison with a couple of short strikes. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cruz is in a horrible position here. Morrison smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

And that's the end of the fight! John Morrison showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Morrison, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
