The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circle momentarily. Bacon darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Bacon tries to bum rush Ballswick with a series of wild strikes but Ballswick uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Bacon takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Ballswick keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Bacon throws a jab but it's blocked by Ballswick.
Bacon blocks a jab.
Bacon throws the left hand but Ballswick avoids the punch easily.
Bacon lands with an uppercut that bounces Ballswick off the cage and back into range.
Bacon throws an overhand right that lands on Ballswick's shoulder, as Ballswick tries to avoid the shot.
Bacon connects with a body shot.
Bacon swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Ballswick misses with a hook. Bacon ducked under it nicely.
Ballswick throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Bacon throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ballswick stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Bacon throws a looping overhand right but Ballswick ducks down to avoid it.
Bacon defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ballswick.
Bacon takes a swing at Ballswick's ribcage but misses.
Ballswick tries to clinch but Bacon is having none of it.
Ballswick bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Bacon ducks under a wild hook from Ballswick.
Ballswick takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Ballswick shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ballswick was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ballswick looking to control but Bacon is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Ballswick swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Bacon is now in Ballswick's guard. A big mistake from Ballswick there, giving up the dominant position!

Ballswick is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Ballswick wants to stand up but Bacon is controlling him.

Ballswick is looking for a triangle but Bacon pushes his legs off easily.

Ballswick has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Bacon is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Ballswick.
Ballswick is looking for a sweep.

Ballswick throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Ballswick wants to control but Bacon postures up.

Bacon has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bacon slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Bacon throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ballswick sees it coming and avoids it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Ballswick counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Bacon's guard now.
Bacon wants to get back to his feet but Ballswick is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Bacon wriggles free and stands up.

Bacon is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ballswick.
Bacon throws an overhand right that lands on Ballswick's shoulder, as Ballswick tries to avoid the shot.
Bacon swings for the body but Ballswick moves out of range.
Chris Bacon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ballswick takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Bacon throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Ballswick has closed the distance and engaged Bacon in a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Bacon's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Ballswick tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Ballswick breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Ballswick tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bacon swivels and escapes.
Ballswick pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Bacon jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Bacon bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Ballswick's head.
Chris Bacon is winning the standup battle so far.
Ballswick moves out of range as Bacon strikes.
Ballswick throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Bacon lands a jab to Ballswick's midsection.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ballswick on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Bacon bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Ballswick moves out of range as Bacon strikes.

Chris Bacon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hellson Ballswick.

Bacon connects with the punch.

Ballswick is rocked!
Bacon's corner calls for a 1-2. Bacon obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Ballswick is still on wobbly legs! Can Bacon finish him?
BOOM! Bacon lands a beautiful left hook that drops Ballswick. Ballswick tries to recover but Bacon is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Ballswick lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Chris Bacon really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Fossington & Blythe: Gentlemen's Fight Attire logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
