Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Wanderlei Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Thomas Raith!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Valeri Chadov and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva throws a hook to the side of Raith's head but Raith sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Raith closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Raith lands in his opponent's guard.
Silva had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Raith defends it easily.
Raith trying to control but Silva is working from the bottom.
Silva is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Raith thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Raith is pushing down on Silva's leg trying to pass to half guard. Silva is fighting to maintain full guard but Raith has managed to sneak the leg through.

Raith stands up from half guard.

Raith uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Silva.
Raith shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Raith was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Raith cracks Silva with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Raith trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Silva is working hard here to advance position.
Silva has given up his back. Will we see Raith going for some submissions?
Silva defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
Raith is trying to stick to Silva's back but Silva is turning into Raith. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Raith's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Silva.

Silva drops back, looking for a kneebar! Raith looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Raith looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Raith!
Silva is looking for a sweep.
Raith works to advance to full mount. Silva defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Raith is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Silva throws a hook but Raith blocks it.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Silva lands a head shot.
Raith fails in his attempt to clinch.

Silva wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Silva misses with a hook from the clinch.
Silva is trying to force a seperation but Raith has the dominant position.
Raith has Silva pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Raith pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Silva tumbling to the mat - Raith dives into Silva's guard.
Silva keeping moving, preventing Raith from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Raith lands a couple of digs.
Silva isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Raith stacks Silva on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Raith!
Silva is looking for a sweep.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Raith tries for a kimura but Silva is defending well.
Silva gets back to half guard.
Raith missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Raith passes to side control.
Silva tries to improve position but can't.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Silva sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Silva is breathing heavily.
Raith is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Silva!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Thomas Raith dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Silva pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Silva thows a left - swing and a miss!
Raith walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
It looks like Thomas Raith has been cut.
Silva throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Silva throws a poor cross that misses
and Raith holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Silva misses with a hook from the clinch.
Raith changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Silva fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Raith displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Silva throws out the jab.

Silva connects with a jab.
Raith slips a straight right by Silva.
Silva gets tackled into the cage by Raith. Raith maintains the clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Silva is trying to break the clinch but Raith is controlling him.
Silva is fighting off a takedown attempt but Raith is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Silva to the mat. Silva regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Raith is looking to work some ground and pound but Silva has wrist control.
Raith wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving.
Silva looking for a guillotine here but Raith defends easily.
Silva has momentary wrist control but Raith slips an elbow through the middle.
Raith wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving.
Silva looking for a triangle here. Raith is fighting it but it looks tight! Silva pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Raith is tapping out - this one is all over!
