PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marco Flecher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mo Lester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Flecher comes to the cage accompanied by Motörhead - Serial Killer. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marco Flecher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mo Lester!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flecher tries to close the distance and clinch but Lester swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Flecher wants to clinch.
Flecher tries to clinch up.
Lester tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Flecher counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Lester tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Flecher wants to control from the top but Lester keeps moving.
Lester has control of Flecher's left arm, preventing Flecher from doing any damage.

Lester pushes Flecher off and scrambles back to his feet.

Flecher fails to land the takedown.

Lester looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Lester tries to stand and escape but Flecher is controlling the position.

Lester stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Flecher to get to his feet.
Flecher moves out of range of the leg kick from Lester.
Marco Flecher seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Flecher blocks a head kick by Lester.
Flecher shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

so Lester counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Lester controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Lester wants to pass the guard but Flecher is keeping the position.
Lester slips nicely into half guard.
Flecher is breathing heavily.
Flecher is looking to improve his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Well, if Lester is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Flecher throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Lester manages to pass to side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Lester working away.
Flecher is looking for a sweep.

Lester is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Flecher has escaped the position, nice work there.
A lull in the action here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mo Lester dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Flecher tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Lester counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Flecher is looking to improve his position.
Lester seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Lester is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Flecher doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Lester.
Flecher regains full guard. Nicely done.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lester is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Lester prevents Flecher from getting back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Flecher not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Flecher wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Lester manages to pass to side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Lester is controlling the pace.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lester is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Flecher!
Mo Lester has got the better of the ground game so far.
Flecher wants to hold on but Lester pushes him away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Flecher tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Lester takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Lester gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Flecher shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Lester counters with a nice body kick.

Lester gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Lester is trying to maintain a safe position but Flecher gets an underhook and turns Lester into the cage.
Lester tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Flecher just stands there and leans against the cage.
Lester is trying to break free.
Lester wants to get back to striking at distance but Flecher won't allow it.

Lester pulls guard successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mo Lester showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Flecher closes the distance but Lester moves to the side

so Lester counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Lester is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Lester postures up.
Lester prevents Flecher from getting back to his feet.
Flecher wants to hit a switch here but Lester passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Flecher there!
Lester controlling from mount.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Flecher wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Lester biding his time, looking for the opening.
Flecher trying to control the hands but Lester breaks the grip.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Lester biding his time, looking for the opening.
Lester's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Flecher trying to control the action but Lester just sinks the hooks in.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Flecher wants to get back to his feet.
Flecher tries to escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Lester controls the position.
Marco Flecher has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Lester is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Flecher defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Flecher is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mo Lester comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lester has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
