Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cary Thompson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Noah Walburn! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Lou da Vinci and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thompson circles away from the clinch attempt and Thompson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Thompson looks for a takedown but Walburn sprawls well. Walburn is looking to clinch but Thompson is avoiding it.
Walburn wants to clinch but Thompson slips to the side and Thompson moves into the clinch. Thompson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Walburn walks away with a smile on his face. Thompson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Thompson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Walburn tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Thompson is in Walburn's guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Walburn controls Thompson momentarily but Thompson frees himself. Thompson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Walburn is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Walburn has escaped and now he's on top!
That's one minute gone in the round. Walburn throwing strikes but missing. Walburn trying to control the position from guard on top but Thompson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Thompson controlling the position. Thompson looking for a sweep. Not yet Thompson, not yet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thompson is pulling down on Walburn's head. It's preventing any offense from Walburn, at least for the moment.
We're going to have a standup here because Cary Thompson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Thompson wants to clinch. Noah Walburn is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Walburn tries to clinch up but Thompson circles away and keeps his distance. The fight stays on the outside here - Walburn looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Walburn tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Thompson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Walburn throws a leg kick that is checked and Thompson makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Walburn really felt that one! Thompson moves in looking to clinch but Walburn pushes him off. Walburn moves into the clinch. Thompson trying to land knees to the body.
Thompson looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Thompson letting Walburn take a breather here. Walburn continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up. Thompson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Walburn manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Thompson is trying to break the clinch but Walburn has him pressed against the cage. Walburn tries to work over Thompson's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Thompson as Walburn tries to tie him up. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Walburn tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Thompson's elbow. Walburn throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Thompson blocks it with crossed arms. Walburn slows down the pace here.
Thompson tries to pull guard but Walburn forces him back to his feet, against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Cary Thompson will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Walburn jabbing away but nothing is landing. Thompson avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Cary Thompson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Thompson fails with a takedown attempt. Walburn closes the distance looking to clinch and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Thompson throws a sloppy head kick and Walburn moves out of range easily. Walburn lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Thompson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round. Thompson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Walburn sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Thompson somewhat. Walburn moves to clinch but Thompson breaks away and Thompson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Walburn! Walburn tries to get back to half guard but can't. Thompson controlling from the full mount. Walburn tries to lock up and control but Thompson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Thompson wants to control the pace but Walburn is squirming around nicely. A nice elbow there by Thompson.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Walburn is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Thompson unloading with bombs! Thompson thowing shots but they're missing. Walburn tries to lock up and control but Thompson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. BOOM! Thompson connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Cary Thompson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Thompson breaks from Walburn's wrist control and lands an elbow. The referee warns Walburn that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Thompson prevents Walburn from getting the reversal. Walburn manages to regain half guard. Good work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Thompson preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Thompson gets full guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Walburn postures up in Thompson's guard and throws a big left but Thompson blocks it. Thompson pushes Walburn off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cary Thompson dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Noah Walburn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Thompson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Thompson clinches with his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The fight stays on the outside here - Walburn looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Good leg kick by Walburn there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Cary Thompson. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Thompson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
