Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lex Diamonds! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Lawry! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Jorge Garcia and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diamonds tries to clinch but fails miserably and Lawry counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Diamonds's guard now. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Diamonds is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lawry defends well. Diamonds throws his legs up looking for a submission but Lawry uses it to pass to side control.
Diamonds tries to bench press Lawry off him but Lawry keeps the position. Lawry decides to stand back up. Diamonds gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Lawry counters with a nice double leg into guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Diamonds looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Lawry tries to free his leg and advance position but Diamonds is retaining full guard. Lawry is looking to stand up but Diamonds won't let him.

Diamonds working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lawry doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lawry manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Diamonds is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Diamonds is breathing heavily. Lawry gets to his feet. Diamonds looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Lawry gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Diamonds counters with a series of strikes. Lawry will be more careful next time no doubt. Lawry stands up and beckons Diamonds to join him on the feet. Diamonds lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lawry circles away quickly and effectively. Lawry closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lawry looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Diamonds looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Lawry stands up from half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lawry gets a takedown into half guard. Lawry trying to control the pace. Lawry decides to stand and escape the position. Lawry avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Lawry fails with the takedown. Lawry looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Diamonds is fending him off so far but Lawry persists. Nope, Diamonds circles away and we're back to standing. Lex Diamonds has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Lawry. Lawry circles away from the clinch attempt and Lawry decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Diamonds's guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Lawry would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Diamonds misses with a combination
and Lawry counters with a single leg into guard. Diamonds didn't expect that. Diamonds keeping moving, preventing Lawry from controlling successfully. Diamonds is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Lawry would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Lawry decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Diamonds stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Diamonds wants it to stay on the feet.

and Lawry counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Diamonds! Lawry takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Let's hope that Lawry has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
