Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chop Chuey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Justin Koons!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chuey shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Koons manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Chuey is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Chuey tries to free his leg and advance position but Koons is retaining full guard.
Chuey passes Koons's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Koons is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Koons is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Chuey is taking a breather. Koons says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Koons tries to roll over but Chuey keeps him under control.
Koons wants to get back to full guard but Chuey has mounted him!

Koons is looking to improve his position but Chuey isn't that keen on the idea.
Chuey scores with a couple of good head shots there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chuey throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Chuey has hold of Koons's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Koons manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Koons tries to lock up and control but Chuey gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Koons is bucking up trying to escape but Chuey cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Chuey bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chuey is looking to take a break and control but Koons is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Chop Chuey overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Chuey decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Koons tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Chuey tries to clinch up.
Chuey changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Koons tries to avoid it but Chuey manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Koons to the ground. Koons escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Koons throws a right hand that Chuey ducks under and follows up with a left that Chuey also avoids with ease.
Chuey shoots in for a double leg but Koons sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Chuey is looking to clinch.

Koons shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Koons was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Chuey slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Chuey throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Chuey moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Koons got a little sloppy there for a moment and Chuey has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Koons has managed to get both his arms back between Chuey's legs - danger averted.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Koons seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Koons would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Chuey bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Koons's guard.
Chuey looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Chuey distracts Koons with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Chuey wants to pass the guard but Koons is keeping the position.
Chuey is pushing down on Koons's leg trying to pass to half guard. Koons is fighting to maintain full guard but Chuey has managed to sneak the leg through.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chop Chuey dominated that second round.
That's time! Chuey's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!


Chuey tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Koons paws at him with a jab and circles away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Koons enables Chuey to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Koons manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Chuey decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Chuey throws a series of punches but Koons avoids them all with ease.
Koons takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Chuey wants to clinch.

Nice takedown defense from Koons. No joy for Chuey on that attempt.
Koons shoots for a takedown but Chuey saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Chuey chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Koons can pounce on him.

Chuey closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Chuey lands in his opponent's guard.
Chuey stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Koons swivels though and keeps the full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Chuey accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Koons really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chuey. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Koons wants to stand but Chuey is controlling the position.

Chuey is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Chuey!
