PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alfred Albertson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vince Chase (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alfred Albertson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vince Chase!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Albertson clinches up against the cage.
Albertson is stalling here.

Albertson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Chase has his takedown stuffed

and Albertson counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Chase is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Albertson trying to control the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chase gets full guard.
Albertson won't allow Chase to sweep him here.

Chase working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Albertson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Albertson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Chase working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Albertson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Albertson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Chase is on top in guard.
Albertson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Chase on the ground.
Chase stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Albertson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Albertson pulls Chase in close to his closed guard and prevents Chase from doing any damage or advancing position.
Chase loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Chase tries to free his leg and advance position but Albertson is retaining full guard.
Albertson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Albertson holds on and takes a little breather.

We're going to have a standup here because Alfred Albertson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Albertson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Chase as he jumps to the side.

and Albertson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Chase!

Chase is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Chase has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Albertson is working away from the top position though.

Chase is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Albertson pulls his head out easily.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Chase is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Albertson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Chase keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Alfred Albertson will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Albertson gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Albertson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Albertson wants to control from the top but Chase keeps moving.

Chase is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Chase tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Chase lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Albertson!

Chase goes for an armbar but Albertson turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Albertson.
Vince Chase has got the better of the ground game so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Chase is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Chase wants to sweep but no luck.
Albertson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Chase is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Chase wants to free his trapped foot but Albertson is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Chase looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Albertson is not content to let Chase control the position.
Chase tries to pass the half guard into mount. Albertson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Albertson tries to get to full guard but Chase has control of the leg.

Chase is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Albertson is defending against the submission attempts here by Chase.
Chase is trying to control. Albertson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Chase thows a huge punch but Albertson dodges it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vince Chase showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Nice takedown defense from Chase. No joy for Albertson on that attempt.

Chase is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Albertson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Chase tries to score a body lock takedown but Albertson shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Chase drops down looking for an ankle pick but Albertson pulls his leg out and moves away.

Albertson gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Albertson is trying to trip Chase. He has hold of a leg but Chase is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Albertson persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alfred Albertson.
I think Albertson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
