And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Aifili Lauvao!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Patrick Alders and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eastman keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Lauvao looks to score with a jab to the body but Eastman is just out of range.
Lauvao uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

so Eastman counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Eastman trying to control but Lauvao is working from the bottom.
Lauvao is looking to stand back up but Eastman counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Lauvao.
Eastman takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Eastman's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Aifili Lauvao seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lauvao is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lauvao wants to stand and escape but Eastman is having none of it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lauvao can do anything to dispel that myth.

Eastman seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Lauvao for as long as he can get away with.

Eastman takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Lauvao clobbers Eastman with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Eastman walks into a jab.
Lauvao lands with a thumping leg kick.
Lauvao connects with a solid leg kick.
Eastman moves out of range of the strikes.
Lauvao is looking to clinch but Eastman is avoiding it.

Lauvao darts in and clinches Eastman up against the cage.

Eastman is trying to maintain a safe position but Lauvao gets an underhook and turns Eastman into the cage.

Lauvao escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Eastman counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Lauvao!
Eastman takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

What can Lauvao do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Lauvao is trying to get back to his feet but Eastman has full control of the position and if anything, Lauvao has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Lauvao is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Eastman off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

We're going to have a standup here because James Eastman wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Lauvao looks to land a right hand but Eastman moved out of range.
Nice straight punches there by Lauvao. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Lauvao.
Sloppy strikes from Lauvao. Those never looked like landing.
Lauvao leaves Eastman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Eastman takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Eastman counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Eastman takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

and Eastman counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Lauvao's guard now.

Lauvao is wriggling around but Eastman manages to pass to half guard.

Lauvao wants to get back to his feet but Eastman drags him back down.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Lauvao is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Eastman is controlling him well.
Lauvao is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted.
Eastman happy to just control the position for now.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Eastman is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lauvao is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Eastman is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Lauvao can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Lauvao tries to lock up and control but Eastman gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

That's time! Eastman's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Lauvao lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Lauvao, right into the meat.
Eastman shoots in looking for a takedown. Lauvao tries to sprawl out of it but Eastman keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lauvao manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lauvao is looking to clinch.
Eastman fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Eastman closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lauvao circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Eastman. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Lauvao jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Eastman tries for a takedown but Lauvao sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Eastman stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Lauvao.
Eastman drops his hands momentarily and Lauvao takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

and Eastman counters with a shoot takedown. Lauvao fights it but they end up in guard.

Eastman wants to control from the top but Lauvao keeps moving.

James Eastman has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Lauvao tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Eastman manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

and Eastman counters with a takedown into side control.
Eastman controls the position.

Eastman has an Americana. Lauvao didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Eastman is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Eastman hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 5, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). James Eastman!
