Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jamal Quik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Ruent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quik comes into the arena with Zro ft. Devin the Dude - Hit'em with the Mule (Ratatatat Remix) blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pete Ruent!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quik pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ruent jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Quik walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Ruent lands a really nice looking cross but Quik seems unphased.
Quik blocks a low kick nicely.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Ruent lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Quik has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Quik and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Quik takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Ruent dips to his left and cracks Quik with an uppercut!
Quik throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Ruent throws an overhand right that lands on Quik's shoulder, as Quik tries to avoid the shot.
Quik lands with a nice body kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ruent swings for the body but Quik moves out of range.
Quik fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ruent manages to avoid it.
Quik dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Quik goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Quik checks a low kick from Ruent.
Quik thows a body kick. Ruent tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Ruent throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Ruent swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Ruent closes the distance and pushes Quik back into the cage.
Quik breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Ruent takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
No joy there for Quik, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Ruent throws a jab but it's blocked by Quik.
Quik lands a nice leg kick that just misses Ruent's sensitive parts.
Ruent tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Quik is able to avoid easily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ruent shoots in and drives through. Quik sprawls well.

Quik takes a swing at Ruent's ribcage but misses.
Quik throws a leg kick which misses Ruent's front leg but catches the back leg as Ruent tries to avoid it.

Ruent throws a lazy right hand but Quik sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ruent throws a solid leg kick but Quik takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Ruent.
Ruent swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Quik takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Ruent shoots for a takedown but Quik saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ruent tries to clinch there but Quik circles away.
Ruent misses with a wild combination.
Quik looks to land a body kick but Ruent moved away.
Quik is looking to land body kicks.
Quik throws a head kick that misses.

and Ruent counters with a stiff right hand.
Quik misses the shot to the body.
Ruent throws a quick inside leg kick.
Quik wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ruent shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Ruent takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jamal Quik will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Ruent throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Quik stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ruent seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Ruent stalling away here and it's allowed Quik to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Ruent is working Quik over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Quik wants to sweep here but Ruent controlling him for the moment.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
