Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robert Buddy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Bruski! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Donatello Bradman and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Buddy darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Buddy lands with a punch from half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bruski tries to kick Buddy off but Buddy keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Bruski throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Bruski is trying to maintain the position but Buddy is very close to passing his half guard. Buddy is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Bruski makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Bruski. Buddy won't allow Bruski to get back to his feet. Buddy stopping the sweep attempt from Bruski. Buddy scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Bruski is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Buddy working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bruski is on top in guard.
Buddy wants to stand and escape but Bruski is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bruski trying to control but Buddy is working from the bottom. Buddy throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Bruski is in close to Buddy's body, working some short punches and elbows. Buddy thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Buddy wants to sweep here but Bruski controlling him for the moment. Buddy throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Buddy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bruski is one step ahead there.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Bruski shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Buddy has a takedown stuffed. Bruski misses with a few strikes there.
Buddy swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Bruski counters with a nice uppercut. Buddy is breathing heavily. Buddy throws a nice looking combination but Bruski bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Bruski misses with a jab, cross combination.
Buddy closes the distance and clinches up with Bruski, looking for a takedown. Buddy pushes Bruski against the cage but Bruski circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Buddy has his takedown stuffed and Bruski counters with a nice body shot. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robert Buddy. That's going to take a lot out of him. Bruski throws a nice looking combination but Buddy bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Buddy throws an off balance right hand
and Bruski counters with a right hand to the body. Buddy connects with a stiff jab that staggers Bruski - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!
