Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tsubasa J Champ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frank Shewmaker! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Emerson Jorge and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shewmaker shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. J Champ defends it nicely. J Champ throws a chopping leg kick but Shewmaker manages to avoid taking any serious damage. A slapping leg kick lands for J Champ.
Shewmaker wants to clinch but J Champ slips to the side and J Champ counters with a good low kick that Shewmaker was not able to check. J Champ throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Shewmaker. J Champ attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Shewmaker. J Champ tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
That's one minute gone in the round. J Champ misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
An inside leg kick lands from J Champ. J Champ throws a quick inside leg kick. Tsubasa J Champ seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. J Champ lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. J Champ connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. J Champ throws a sloppy head kick and Shewmaker moves out of range easily. Shewmaker checks a leg kick. J Champ connects with a leg kick. Shewmaker looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! J Champ lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Shewmaker looks gassed!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shewmaker shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. J Champ defends it nicely. Tsubasa J Champ has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Shewmaker. J Champ misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
J Champ buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Shewmaker closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming J Champ to the mat! J Champ manages to get full guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. J Champ looking for a sweep. Not yet J Champ, not yet. J Champ pulls Shewmaker in close to his closed guard and prevents Shewmaker from doing any damage or advancing position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shewmakeris looking to pass into half guard but J Champ pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now J Champ is in guard. J Champ is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. J Champ wants to stand but Shewmaker has a closed guard, so he can't escape. J Champ is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Tsubasa J Champ has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. J Champ misses with a low kick. Shewmaker darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. J Champ tries to kick Shewmaker off but Shewmaker keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. J Champ wants to get back to full guard. Shewmaker is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, J Champ has managed to free his arm - good work. Shewmaker prevents J Champ from standing back up.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Shewmaker works his way into full mount! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tsubasa J Champ dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from J Champ, right into the meat.
Shewmaker's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. J Champ slaps away a takedown attempt from Shewmaker, before circling back to the center of the mat. Shewmaker closes the distance and clinches up with J Champ, looking for a takedown. Shewmaker pushes J Champ against the cage but J Champ circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Shewmaker darts in trying to clinch and J Champ counters with a body kick that stops Shewmaker in his tracks momentarily. Shewmaker is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. J Champ connects with an inside leg kick. J Champ lands a leg kick that knocks Shewmaker off balance momentarily. A slapping leg kick lands for J Champ.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! J Champ lands a high kick!
It looks like Frank Shewmaker has been cut. J Champ buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Whack! J Champ lands a heavy head kick that drops Shewmaker. The ref tackles J Champ to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Shewmaker was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Tsubasa J Champ! Tsubasa J Champ decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
