Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Adriano Luiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcel Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Martin is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by RAWR. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Adriano Luiz! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Marcel Martin! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Chris Edwards and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Martin motions for Luiz to come forward. Martin throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Martin closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Martin misses with an attempted head punch from side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Luiz is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Luiz has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Martin is working away from the top position though. Luiz is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Martin pulls his head out easily. Martin prevents Luiz from standing back up.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Martin wants to free his trapped foot but Luiz is holding on for dear life with his legs. Martin is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Luiz doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Martin. Luiz trying to hold on to Martin's head to control him but Martin postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are battling for position here. Luiz manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Martin seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Martin wants to pass the guard but Luiz is keeping the position. Luiz has his foot on Martin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Martin works his way back into a safe position though. Martin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Luiz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Martin has managed to get both his arms back between Luiz's legs - danger averted. Martin content to stall in guard here. Martin trying to stand up but can't free himself from Luiz's guard. Martin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Luiz manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Luiz with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Luiz working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Luiz thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Martin is looking to improve his position but Luiz isn't that keen on the idea. Luiz working for a submission but Martin is keeping him at bay.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Martin is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Luiz working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Martin looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Luiz! Submission of the night perhaps?
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Adriano Luiz! Adriano Luiz is the new lightweight champion! Adriano Luiz decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
