Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Codesmus Kurosake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joey West!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurosake shoots in looking for a takedown but West manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kurosake's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
West doesn't manage to clinch there - Kurosake circles away.
Kurosake defends well against a solid takedown attempt from West.
Kurosake is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
West looks for a takedown but Kurosake sprawls well.
West shoots for a takedown but Kurosake saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Codesmus Kurosake has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joey West.

West bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

West really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kurosake. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Joey West hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
West connects with a high kick.

West closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kurosake quickly recovers to half guard.
West is thwarting Kurosake's attempts to control the position.
Kurosake is breathing heavily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

West seems to be looking for submissions.

This has been an exciting period of action!
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. West connects with a nice short shot to Kurosake's temple.
West moves nicely into side control.

West is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kurosake knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Kurosake is looking to work his way out of this bad position but West is controlling him well.

West turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Kurosake wants to clinch.
Codesmus Kurosake is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
No luck for Kurosake with that takedown attempt.
Kurosake fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Kurosake is looking to clinch but West is avoiding it.
West tries to close the distance and clinch but Kurosake swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Come on West - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

West pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Kurosake shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. West defends it nicely.
West tries to clinch but Kurosake moves away
and Kurosake counters with an outside leg kick.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from West is defended easily by Kurosake.
West shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kurosake as he avoids it easily.
Nice takedown defense from West. No joy for Kurosake on that attempt.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

West shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kurosake pinned against the cage. Kurosake gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
West keeps the fight on the outside.

West tries to clinch but Kurosake moves out of range.
Kurosake misses with a low kick as West jumps back.
Kurosake avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
West shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kurosake sprawls well. Kurosake wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. West gets slowly back to his feet.
West throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kurosake's waist but Kurosake gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing West off to one side.
Joey West seems to be getting the better of the standup.
West stuffs the takedown attempt from Kurosake. Kurosake gets slowly back to his feet.
West wants to clinch up but Kurosake keeps it at a distance.

Kurosake keeps West at a distance using the push kick.
Kurosake tries to score a power double leg takedown but West sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kurosake somewhat.

West tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Kurosake manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

West tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kurosake smiles and moves away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joey West showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Kurosake's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

West tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kurosake throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around West's waist but West gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kurosake off to one side.

Kurosake gets caught napping as West dives in and scores a takedown. Kurosake manages to retain guard.
Joey West has got the better of the ground game so far.
West loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Kurosake is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Kurosake fails with an attempt to clinch.

West has managed to clinch.

West tries to pull guard but Kurosake forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Kurosake breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kurosake tries to clinch but West moves out of range.
Kurosake closes this distance looking for a takedown but West circles away.

Kurosake has his foot on West's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. West works his way back into a safe position though.

West drops back looking for a leg! Kurosake is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kurosake manages to kick West off! West jumps back into Kurosake's guard.

West has closed the distance and engaged Kurosake in a clinch.

Kurosake's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

West tries for a takedown but Kurosake sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Codesmus Kurosake has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Joey West is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Joey West comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well West has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
