PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander The Great One (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erek Horton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Horton has chosen Sandman as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alexander The Great One!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Erek Horton!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Eliza Hachem and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horton fails with a takedown attempt.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Horton prevents the takedown attempt.

The Great One has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Horton is trying to keep an underhook but The Great One manages to get the takedown into half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Horton is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The Great One decides to return to a standing position.
Horton tries to clinch up.
Horton looks for a takedown but The Great One sprawls well.

The Great One looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. The Great One lands a nice short elbow.
The Great One throwing shots but Horton is blocking nicely.
Still in half guard, The Great One seems content to control.
The Great One is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Horton is trying to defend against the ground and pound but The Great One scores with a couple of nice shots.
The Great One working Horton over with strikes.
Horton is looking for a sweep. The Great One is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The Great One content to control rather than advance.
Horton really doesn't want to stay on the ground with The Great One. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. The Great One connects with a nice short shot to Horton's temple.
The Great One landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The Great One moves nicely into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The Great One thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

The Great One has hold of Horton's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Horton tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - The Great One cranks the arm and Horton screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Horton, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Alexander The Great One!
