PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Edmundo Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and WiLL Frantez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Edmundo Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, WiLL Frantez!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Leandro Rodrigues and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Frantez fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Jr.
Jr shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jr fails with a takedown attempt.
WiLL Frantez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jr fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Edmundo Jr. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jr tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Frantez swivels and escapes.
Frantez throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Frantez throws a nice head kick!
Jr looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Frantez pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Frantez slaps away a takedown attempt from Jr, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Jr tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Frantez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Jr decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Frantez is looking for a sweep. Jr is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Frantez looks gassed!
Jr working over Frantez with some ground and pound. Frantez looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Jr lands with a punch from half guard.
Frantez wants to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jr wants to control but Frantez is keeping him busy.
Frantez keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Frantez is refusing to be controlled, as Jr sits in half guard.
Jr lands with a punch from half guard.
Jr wants to take a breather but Frantez is having none of it.
Jr is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Jr is nestled in close to Frantez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jr is trying to control. Frantez wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Jr takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Frantez has hold of Jr's hands but Jr slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Jr working the head and body with strikes.
Jr slips a nice elbow through Frantez's hands, connecting with Frantez's forehead.
Jr scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jr scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Jr looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Frantez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Jr lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.


Frantez is rocked!
Jr scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Frantez is still in real trouble! Can Jr finish him?

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Frantez taking some punishment here, with Jr in his half guard.
Jr lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Frantez quite badly. Frantez pulls Jr in close trying to recover. Jr postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Frantez on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Frantez doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Edmundo Jr!
