Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kasey Ballard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zaine Lovell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ballard comes to the cage accompanied by Eye of the Tiger. Kasey Ballard has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kasey Ballard! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Zaine Lovell! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Steve Erwin and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ballard works Lovell's body with a nice hook. Ballard throws a sloppy head kick and Lovell moves out of range easily. Ballard showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Lovell.
Lovell pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lovell throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Ballard counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Lovell thinking. Ballard looks for a takedown but Lovell sprawls well. Lovell shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ballard as he jumps to the side. Ballard shoots in but Lovell avoids the takedown attempt easily. Ballard throws a head kick that misses and Lovell counters with a flying knee. Nice. Ballard cracks Lovell with a good jab. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Lovell stuffs the takedown attempt from Ballard. Ballard gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kasey Ballard. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lovell closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ballard drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ballard tries to pull guard but Lovell won't allow it.
Lovell escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lovell throws a right and a left that Ballard avoids nicely. Lovell looking to score a takedown here. Ballard is defending well but Lovell drives through and ends up in Ballard's guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lovell accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Lovell preventing the sweep. Lovell trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Lovell is in close to Ballard's body, working some short punches and elbows. Lovell is looking to work some ground and pound but Ballard has wrist control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ballard throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Lovell wants to control from the top but Ballard keeps moving. Ballard is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Lovell has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Ballard is trying to control. Lovell wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Lovell wants to improve his position but Ballard is controlling well.
Ballard is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Lovell doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ballard. Ballard is breathing heavily. Lovell makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lovell clobbers Ballard with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Lovell misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ballard tries to clinch up. Lovell throws a series of punches but Ballard moves out of range. Lovell throws a right and a left that Ballard avoids nicely. Ballard changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lovell tries to avoid it but Ballard manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lovell to the ground. Lovell escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Zaine Lovell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ballard lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
It looks like Zaine Lovell has been cut.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ballard lands a left and a right that send Lovell crashing to the mat, dazed. Ballard thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Lovell is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Lovell misses with a double jab.
Lovell is still on wobbly legs! Can Ballard finish him? Lovell throws a body punch but Ballard moves out of range. Lovell seems to have recovered his senses. Ballard closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ballard lands in his opponent's guard. Lovell is looking to stand up but Ballard isn't so interested in that idea. Ballard has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Ballard trying to control the position from guard on top but Lovell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ballard keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Ballard shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lovell's guard. Ballard decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Lovell, up you get! Lovell has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Ballard. Lovell is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Ballard. A swing and a miss from Lovell. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ballard tries to close the distance and clinch but Lovell swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Lovell throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Ballard shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Lovell is breathing heavily. Ballard has hold of Lovell's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Lovell manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ballard swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Lovell is now in Ballard's guard. A big mistake from Ballard there, giving up the dominant position!
That's one minute gone in the round. Lovell preventing the sweep. Lovell wants to control from the top but Ballard keeps moving. Ballard has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Lovell has passed into side control.
Ballard takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lovell is working Ballard over with some ground and pound from side control. Lovell goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Ballard has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Lovell but great work by Ballard. Ballard trying to control the position but Lovell is working away. Lovell struggling a bit here. Ballard misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Lovell is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Ballard's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Lovell wants to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ballard stands up and beckons Lovell to join him on the feet. Ballard on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Ballard has his takedown stuffed and Lovell counters with a nice body kick.
Lovell shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ballard defends it nicely. Lovell tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Nice takedown defense from Lovell. No joy for Ballard on that attempt. Kasey Ballard is winning the standup battle so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ballard wants to clinch. Ballard lands with a slapping head kick. Ballard takes a kick to the side of the head. Ballard tries to clinch there but Lovell circles away.

Lovell thumps Ballard with a low kick. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Lovell tries to bum rush Ballard with a series of wild strikes but Ballard uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Ballard shoots in looking for a takedown. Lovell tries to sprawl out of it but Ballard keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lovell manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kasey Ballard dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Zaine Lovell's cut. That's time! Ballard's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Lovell throws a front kick that sends Ballard stumbling back into the cage. Lovell dives in and scores a takedown into Ballard's guard. Lovell slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Ballard is looking for a triangle but Lovell pushes his legs off easily.
Ballard is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Lovell breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ballard throws a head kick that misses and Lovell connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Lovell steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ballard. Ballard is trying hard to land a takedown here. Lovell sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. A decent looking body kick lands there for Lovell. No joy there for Lovell, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Lovell comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Lovell will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Lovell closes the distance and clinches. Lovell manages to break the clinch.
Ballard tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lovell swats him away and circles back towards the center. Ballard takes one to the side of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ballard throws the kick towards the body but Lovell avoids it. Lovell fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ballard manages to avoid it. Ballard shoots in for a takedown but Lovell shows good takedown defense. Ballard keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Lovell scores with a jab. Ballard acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Ballard pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Lovell closes the distance and pushes Ballard back into the cage. Lovell breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Lovell goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Ballard gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Ballard shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Lovell is trying to defend but Ballard finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Lovell won't allow Ballard to pass to mount. Ballard is keen to just control but Lovell is a slippery customer.

Ballard trying to control the position from guard on top but Lovell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ballard will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Ballard would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Lovell pushes Ballard off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Zaine Lovell really dominated that round. The cut man is working on Zaine Lovell's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Ballard fails in his attempt to clinch. Lovell cracks Ballard with a good jab. Ballard throws a right hand that Lovell ducks under and follows up with a left that Lovell also avoids with ease. Lovell leaves Ballard with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Lovell lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
It looks like Kasey Ballard has been cut. Lovell scores with a shot to the body.
Lovell misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ballard is looking to slow Lovell down with leg kicks. No joy there for Ballard, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Lovell tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Ballard manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ballard fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Lovell scores with a push kick. Lovell throws a nice looking combination but Ballard bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Lovell throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Ballard throws a leg kick and Lovell counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Lovell lands with a slapping head kick. Ballard clinches up with Lovell and pushes him back against the cage. Ballard stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Lovell lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Ballard. A frustrated look appears on Lovell's face as he tries to break the clinch. Lovell lands an elbow inside that Ballard shrugs off. Lovell can't break the clinch.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Zaine Lovell dominated that fourth round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Ballard tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lovell sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ballard somewhat. The crowd cheers as Lovell lands an impressive looking overhand right. Ballard doesn't seem phased though. Lovell misses with a two punch combination.
Lovell feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Ballards jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Ouch! a nice leg kick from Lovell, right into the meat.
No luck for Ballard with that takedown attempt. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Jab, jab by Lovell - just one landing. Lovell throws a right hand that Ballard ducks under and follows up with a left that Ballard also avoids with ease.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lovell takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Ballard tries to clinch there but Lovell circles away.

Ballard pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Lovell back to the cage. Ballard follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. A combination from Ballard does no damage. Kasey Ballard is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Ballard gets tackled into the cage by Lovell. Lovell maintains the clinch. Ballard is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Lovell to keep the fight standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kasey Ballard. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lovell pulls guard. Lovell looking for a guillotine here but Ballard defends easily.
Ballard has gone for a leg lock! Lovell slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ballard's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Lovell trying to control but Ballard is working from the bottom. Lovell throwing strikes from guard but Ballard blocks nicely. Ballard has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lovell can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Lovell trying to control but Ballard is working from the bottom.

Lovell scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Ballard wants to get back to his feet but Lovell is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Ballard keeping moving, preventing Lovell from controlling successfully. Lovell stands and steps away. Ballard gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Lovell lands with a kick to the temple. Ballard shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lovell fails to land the takedown. Ballard moves into the clinch. Lovell takes a knee to the side of the body. Ballard prevents Lovell from breaking the clinch. Lovell tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ballard smiles and moves away.
Ballard lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Lovell backs up against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Lovell tries to keep at a distance but Ballard has taken the fight into the clinch. Ballard tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lovell smiles and moves away.
And that's the end of the fight! Zaine Lovell comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Lovell has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
