Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Barker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathaniel Price (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Price has chosen Thunderstruck as his entrance music. Andrew Barker had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andrew Barker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nathaniel Price!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Summer Carpenter and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Price looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Price fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Barker sprawls well initially but Price persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Price wants to free his trapped foot but Barker is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Price wants to stand but Barker has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Barker works his way to full guard. Good work.
Barker looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Price trying to control the position from guard on top but Barker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Price slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Price wants to control from the top but Barker keeps moving.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Nathaniel Price wasn't active enough on the ground.
Price will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Price tries to clinch

and Barker decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Price's guard.
Price controls Barker momentarily but Barker frees himself.
Price wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Barker is now in half guard.
Barker trying to control the action but Price is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Price is trying to control but can't.
Barker is looking to advance position but Price won't allow it.
Price is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Price pushes Barker off looking to stand but Barker dives back in and keeps control.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Barker wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Barker stalling.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Price tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Barker manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Price swinging wildly here.

Price feints and as Barker raises his hands in defense, Price changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Price gets to his feet. Barker looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Barker is breathing heavily.
Barker avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Barker displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Price.
Price fails with an attempt to clinch.

Price fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Barker sprawls well initially but Price persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Barker is refusing to be controlled, as Price sits in half guard.
Price sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Barker defending well though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Barker tries to roll over but Price keeps him under control.
Barker is looking to control Price's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Barker avoid being mounted?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nathaniel Price dominated that round.
That's time! Barker's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Price clinches up with Barker and pushes him back against the cage.

Barker gets control of Price's arms and successfully pulls guard. Barker will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Price looking to sit in guard and control but Barker gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Price has his foot on Barker's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Barker works his way back into a safe position though.
Price trying to keep a closed guard but Barker is proving a slippery customer.
Barker trying to control but Price is working from the bottom.

Barker is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Barker trying to control but Price is working from the bottom.
Price is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Barker stays in close to Price's body and controls the position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Price is trying to keep Barker in close.
Price managing to control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Barker fails with a takedown attempt.
Barker shoots in but no luck this time.

Price darts in and clinches Barker up against the cage.
Barker tries to pull guard but Price won't allow it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andrew Barker. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Price is looking to take this one to the mat.
Barker is trying to pull guard but Price turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Price trying to land knees to the body.

Price unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Barker could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Price controlling the action here for a moment.
Barker tries to pull guard but Price won't allow it.

Price escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Price shoots in and bounces Barker off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Barker looking to control.
Price engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Barker looking to control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Barker gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Price to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Barker wants to stand but Price is controlling the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Price content to stall in guard here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nathaniel Price showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Price shoots for a takedown but Barker saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Barker enables Price to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Barker manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Price wanted to stand there but Barker had control of the position.
Barker looking for a sweep. Not yet Barker, not yet.

Price gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Price closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Barker did well to prevent Price getting side control.

Price is trying for a kimura here. Barker looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Price wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Nathaniel Price!
After the fight, Nathaniel Price was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
