And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Johnny Mayzing!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Atkins and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mayzing slaps away a takedown attempt from De Souza, before circling back to the center of the mat.

De Souza looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Mayzing!
De Souza scoring with strikes but Mayzing is staying in there.
De Souza has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
De Souza throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Mayzing because De Souza loaded up on that one.

De Souza moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Mayzing has worked his arm free - good work by Mayzing!
De Souza creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Mayzing sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

De Souza throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mayzing tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. De Souza is in Mayzing's guard.

Mayzing is edging up against the ropes. He's using the ropes to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Mayzing tightens his grip and picks De Souza up, before dumping him to the ground. De Souza manages to land in guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
De Souza dives in and grabs Mayzing's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mayzing pushes down on De Souza's head and hops out.
Horrible takedown by Mayzing or perhaps it was just good defense by De Souza which made him look bad.

De Souza postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mayzing is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of De Souza, into his guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
De Souza is pulling down on Mayzing's head. It's preventing any offense from Mayzing, at least for the moment.
Mayzing stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. De Souza swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Johnny Mayzing.

Mayzing shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in De Souza's guard.

Johnny Mayzing showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

De Souza looks for a takedown but Mayzing sprawls well.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Mayzing.

and De Souza counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mayzing won't be happy with that.

Mayzing is looking for a sweep. De Souza is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Jose De Souza overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mayzing accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
De Souza wants to stand and escape but Mayzing is having none of it.
Mayzing is looking to advance position but De Souza has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Mayzing bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
De Souza is looking to stand up but Mayzing isn't so interested in that idea.

Mayzing looking to sit in guard and control but De Souza gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

I would just about give that final round to Johnny Mayzing.
I think Mayzing has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
