PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nate Lennox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stan Winner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lennox kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is down -- motograter. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Nate Lennox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Stan Winner!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Matti Vanhoillinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Winner throws a head kick that misses.

Lennox fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Winner sprawls well initially but Lennox persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Winner keeping control of the position.
Lennox wants to pass the guard but Winner is defending well.

Lennox looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Lennox is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Winner is just riding it out for now. Lennox eventually gives up the hold.

Lennox wants to pass the guard but Winner is defending well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Lennox trying to mount his opponent but Winner defends it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Lennox shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Winner looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Lennox misses with a takedown attempt - Winner sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Winner misses with an uppercut.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nate Lennox dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Winner drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Winner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lennox. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Lennox stops Winner from passing to mount.
Lennox seems a little lost for a moment, as Winner dominates the positioning.
Lennox manages to work his way to half guard, despite Winner's best efforts.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Winner decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Lennox gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Winner counters with a shoot takedown. Lennox fights it but they end up in guard.

Lennox has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Winner can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Winner tries to stand but Lennox is controlling from the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Winner slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Winner wants to control from the top but Lennox keeps moving.
Winner would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Winner is breathing heavily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Winner content to stall in guard here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stan Winner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Winner takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Lennox really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Despite being in the dominant position, Stan Winner just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Nate Lennox is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Winner misses with a looping left.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Winner gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Winner lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Winner wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lennox keeps working.

Stan Winner comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Winner has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
