Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Robert Litwin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Flynn Tarus! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Edson Gomes and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tarus feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Litwin really is a fat lump. Litwin looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Litwin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Litwin looking for a sweep. Not yet Litwin, not yet. Tarus wanted to stand there but Litwin had control of the position. Litwin pushes Tarus off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Nice sprawl there from Tarus as Litwin shoots in. Tarus shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Litwin tries to hold on but Tarus pushes him away. Litwin tries to get back to half guard but can't. Tarus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Litwin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Tarus fails to take his opponent's back. Tarus tries to control but Litwin wriggling away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Litwin tries to hold on but Tarus postures up. Litwin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Litwin tries to get out of the position. Tarus raining down shots from the mount! Tarus looking to finish Litwin with some ground and pound. This is bad for Litwin! Litwin is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Litwin looks out of his depth in this position - he's holding on tight. Litwin wants to hold on but Tarus pushes him away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Litwin sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Litwin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Litwin has one foot on Tarus's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Litwin closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Tarus to the mat! Tarus manages to get full guard. Tarus doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Litwin wants to pass the guard but Tarus is keeping the position. Litwin postures up.

Litwin forces his way into half guard. Tarus looks gassed! Litwin has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Litwin is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Tarus has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Litwin is in the full mount, landing strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Litwin trying to control but he's not successful this time. Litwin goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Tarus turns into him and now he's in Litwin's guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Tarus trying to control but Litwin is working from the bottom. Tarus defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Litwin. Tarus shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Litwin's guard. Litwin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Tarus's guard. Litwin pushes down on Tarus's leg and manages to get into half guard. Tarus trying to control here.
Litwin not landing any meaningful shots this time. Litwin stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Tarus looking to score a takedown here. Litwin is defending well but Tarus drives through and ends up in Litwin's guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Litwin wants to sweep here but Tarus controlling him for the moment. Litwin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tarus slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Litwin. Tarus is looking to take a break and control but Litwin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Litwin is trying to get back to full guard. Tarus wants to control but Litwin is keeping him busy. Litwin misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Litwin regains half guard. Litwin tries to get to full guard but Tarus has control of the leg. Litwin is pressing down on Tarus's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Litwin looking for a guillotine here but Tarus defends easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Tarus is on the wrong end of a couple of strikes there.

Tarus must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Litwin thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Tarus passes into half guard under a barage of strikes. Tarus wants to control but Litwin is keeping him busy. Robert Litwin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Tarus tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Litwin is trying to control but Tarus passes into side control!

Tarus clinches up against the cage. Tarus has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Litwin regains guard immediately. Litwin strikes from his own guard. Litwin is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Litwin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Litwin trying to control the position from guard on top but Tarus is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Litwin is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Litwin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tarus can't keep his opponent in guard - Litwin advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Litwin wants to work for an arm triangle but Tarus is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Litwin gets to his feet. Tarus looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Tarus takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. The fight moves into the clinch position. Litwin wants to stall.
Litwin is looking for a takedown. Tarus is defending well against a takedown attempt. Litwin manages to break the clinch.
Litwin looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
It looks like Robert Litwin has been cut. This has been an exciting period of action! Litwin dives in and grabs Tarus's left leg, looking for a takedown. Tarus pushes down on Litwin's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robert Litwin. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tarus has taken the fight to the clinch.

No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Litwin thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Flynn Tarus hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Tarus clinches up with Litwin and pushes him back against the cage. Tarus has had enough of the clinch but Litwin keeps him there for the moment. Litwin ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Litwin no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Tarus trying to control but Litwin is working from the bottom. Robert Litwin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Litwin is on top in guard.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Robert Litwin. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Litwin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
