PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fante Sekibu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martin Eyre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eyre is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Domination by Pantera. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fante Sekibu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Martin Eyre!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sekibu scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.


It looks like Martin Eyre has been cut.

Sekibu drives through and clinches with Eyre against the cage.

Sekibu breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Sekibu closes this distance looking for a takedown but Eyre circles away.
Eyre avoids a kick to the body.
Sekibu lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Sekibu gets caught flat footed, as Eyre shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Eyre closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Eyre thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sekibu's head.
Sekibu tries to kick Eyre off but Eyre keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Despite being in the dominant position, Martin Eyre just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Eyre is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Sekibu pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Sekibu lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Eyre or not.
Sekibu is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Eyre fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sekibu sprawls well initially but Eyre persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

and Eyre counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Sekibu connects with a vicious head kick that knocks Eyre to the floor! Sekibu dives in looking for the finish!

Eyre is looking for a sweep. Sekibu is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Eyre regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Sekibu.
Sekibu will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Eyre connects with a nice short shot to Sekibu's temple.

Well, if Eyre is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Let's hope that Eyre has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
