Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joshua North (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nelson comes to the cage accompanied by Trogdor. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johnny Nelson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joshua North!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson doesn't manage to clinch there - North circles away.
Nelson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but North circles away quickly and effectively.
Nelson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from North.
No luck for Nelson with that takedown attempt.
Nelson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but North paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Nelson lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


It looks like Joshua North has been cut.

North gets a double leg takedown into Nelson's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nelson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. North doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. North manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
North advances position into side control!

North tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no North has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Nelson is looking to regain half guard here but North keeps moving and retains side control.

North wants to control but Nelson is keeping him busy.

North is trying to get an arm triangle but Nelson is defending well.
Nelson is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked North off and has taken his back!

Nelson is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Nelson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. North defends it easily.

Nelson throws his legs up looking for a submission but North uses it to pass to side control.
Nelson manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Nelson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
North has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nelson is working away from the top position though.

North moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
North looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Nelson wants to get back to his feet.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

North pulls guard successfully.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


North fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

North tries to keep at a distance but Nelson has taken the fight into the clinch.
North can't break the clinch.

North ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. North no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
North manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
North sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

North looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

North with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

North is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Nelson has managed to escape the submission attempt.

North is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Nelson defends it well.
Joshua North has got the better of the ground game so far.

North fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Nelson to the ground. North is now in Nelson's guard.
North is breathing heavily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nelson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. North gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Nelson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but North can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

North gets to his feet - Nelson follows without any prompting.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
North circles away from the clinch attempt.

North decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Ground and pound from North.
Nelson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

That was a close second round but I would say that Johnny Nelson will probably get the nod.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


North fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Nelson avoids it really well and circles away.
A combination from Nelson does no damage.
Nelson is trying hard to land a takedown here. North sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Nelson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

North shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nelson's guard.

Nelson has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. North doesn't defend quickly enough and Nelson has managed to lock this one up! Can North escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Nelson on a fantastic submission victory.

Post fight, Johnny Nelson stared into the camera and said 'Im the champs kryptonite. Let me go get my title!'.
