The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz shoots and misses

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

and Mesus counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Zeus Mesus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Victor Cruz.

Mesus bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Mesus takes a little break here. Cruz wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Mesus throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cruz was covering up waiting for the punch and Mesus finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Zeus Mesus is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
