PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mari Huana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Quirke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Huana comes into the arena with Megadeth Public Enemy No.1 blaring out of the sound system. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yukihiro Yamamoto.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quirke goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Huana takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Huana lands a big head kick that sends Quirke tumbling to the mat! Huana takes a step backwards and waves Quirke back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Marcus Quirke has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Quirke lands with a hook. Huana tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Quirke lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Huana has taken the fight to the clinch.

Huana's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Quirke is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Huana.
Huana looks to score with a jab to the body but Quirke is just out of range.
Marcus Quirke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No joy there for Quirke, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Huana wants to stand up but Quirke is controlling the position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Quirke can do anything to dispel that myth.

and Huana counters with a crisp one two that drops Quirke! Huana thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Quirke to his feet! Quirke is in big trouble!
Quirke ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Huana moves away.

Huana misses with a jab, cross combination.
Quirke defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Huana.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mari Huana. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Huana scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Quirke throws a right hand that Huana ducks under and follows up with a left that Huana also avoids with ease.
