Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Wes Welker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Latka Gravas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Latka Gravas has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Wes Welker's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
22 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Wes Welker! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Latka Gravas! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Winston Howard and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gravas gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Welker blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Welker as Gravas tries to tie him up. Welker is trying to pull guard but Gravas turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Welker looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Nice body punch from Gravas - that landed with a thud.
A head punch on the inside from Gravas fails to land. A short right hand to the side of the head by Gravas. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Gravas working some nice short punches in the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gravas swings away with an uppercut that misses.

A frustrated look appears on Welker's face as he tries to break the clinch. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. A right hand to the body from Gravas.
A short left from Gravas. Welker is trying to push Gravas away but Gravas has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Gravas scores with a shoulder strike. Gravas tries to work over Welker's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Welker wants to stall.
Gravas has a couple of punches blocked by Welker.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Welker is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Gravas misses with a short punch on the inside. Gravas throws a head punch that misses. Gravas struggles to land a body shot inside as Welker controls his hands.

Welker is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Welker tries to pull guard but Gravas forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Gravas manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! With the fighters up against the cage, Gravas throws an elbow but misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Welker blocks a body shot from Gravas. Welker is trying to break free. Welker blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Welker wants to break the clinch but can't.
Gravas lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Gravas creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Gravas has a couple of punches blocked by Welker.
Gravas is working Welker over against the cage. Gravas working aggressively here.

Welker is trying to maintain a safe position but Gravas gets an underhook and turns Welker into the cage. Gravas misses with a punch on the inside.

Gravas scores with a shot to the side of Welker's head. Gravas swings wildly with an uppercut but Welker uses good head movement to avoid it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Welker blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Welker lands with a right to the head. Gravas using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gravas lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Gravas misses with a hook from the clinch. Welker tries to break free but Gravas pushes him back against the cage. Welker blocks an uppercut.

Gravas lands a hook to the side of the head. Welker breaks the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Welker shoots in looking for a takedown but Gravas manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Welker's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wes Welker. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gravas fails with an attempt to clinch.
Welker has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Gravas. Gravas lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Latka Gravas dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Welker shoots in for a takedown but Gravas shows good takedown defense. Welker gets a double leg takedown into Gravas's guard. Gravas looking for a sweep. Not yet Gravas, not yet. Welker thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Welker drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Welker jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Welker is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gravas is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gravas has escaped and now he's on top! Welker not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gravas controlling from the top position. Welker is looking for a triangle but Gravas pushes his legs off easily.
Welker escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gravas gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Welker wants to sweep but no luck. Gravas scoring with some ground and pound. Welker can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Gravas controls the pace. Welker is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Gravas must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gravasis looking to pass into half guard but Welker pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Welker is in guard. Welker wants to control from the top but Gravas keeps moving. Gravas looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Gravas being controlled here, momentarily. Gravas is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Welker accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Welker is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gravas is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gravas has escaped and now he's on top! Welker has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gravas can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Welker working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Gravas has passed into half guard!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Wes Welker dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Gravas displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Welker throws out the jab. Gravas throws a sloppy head kick and Welker moves out of range easily. Gravas misses with a wild body shot. Good shot there by Welker. Gravas tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Welker throws out a powerful jab. Welker dives in and scores a takedown into Gravas's guard. Welker drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gravas looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gravas looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gravas! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gravas is looking to take a break and control but Welker is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Welker tries to buck Gravas off but Gravas is having none of it. Welker is trying to control Gravas's posture but Gravas avoids it. Gravas stands up and beckons Welker to his feet. Gravas throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Welker throws a right and a left that Gravas avoids nicely. Welker misses with an uppercut. Gravas saw that one coming. Gravas throws out a leg kick but Welker moves out of range and Gravas only half commits. Gravas lands a two punch combo.
It looks like Wes Welker has been cut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gravas tries a head kick but it misses.

Horrible takedown by Welker or perhaps it was just good defense by Gravas which made him look bad. Welker avoids the head kick by Gravas.
Gravas takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Welker tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gravas swivels and escapes. Latka Gravas seems to be getting the better of the standup. Welker loads up on a big right hand but Gravas slips the punch. Gravas lands with a hook. Welker tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Welker looks to land a left hand but Gravas moved out of range nicely. Welker lands with an uppercut that bounces Gravas off the cage and back into range. Welker shoots in and drives through. Gravas sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wes Welker. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Welker is rocked! Gravas's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Oh Welker is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Gravas working aggressively here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Gravas lands a left hand.

A combination from Gravas does no damage. A looping hook to the body misses from Gravas. Welker does a little dance to reset his feet. Welker misses with a takedown attempt - Gravas sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Welker throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gravas. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Gravas blocks a jab. Gravas throws the left hand but Welker avoids the punch easily. Gravas misses with a kick to the body.
And that's the end of the fight! Latka Gravas comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Gravas has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
