Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Longfellow Deeds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karl Lawson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Deeds comes to the cage accompanied by Evils Deeds. Lawson is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Personality Crisis. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Longfellow Deeds! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Karl Lawson! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, John Mangel and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Deeds throws an overhand right that lands on Lawson's shoulder, as Lawson tries to avoid the shot. Deeds connects with the punch. Lawson throws a lazy body kick and Deeds counters with a nice uppercut. Deeds lands a jab. Deeds looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Lawson! Lawson tries to get back to half guard but can't. Deeds sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Lawson is looking to improve his position but Deeds isn't that keen on the idea. Deeds unloads with some shots from mount but Lawson bucks and avoids them well.
The referee warns Lawson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

That's one minute gone in the round. Deeds landing strikes from the mount. Deeds looking to control but Lawson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Deeds scoring with strikes but Lawson is staying in there. Lawson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Lawson is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Lawson is in all sorts of trouble here.
Deeds wants to control the pace but Lawson is squirming around nicely. This has been an exciting period of action! Lawson wants to hold on but Deeds pushes him away.

Lawson is looking to get to half guard. Deeds lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Deeds looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Lawson doing his best to control the position. Can he escape? Deeds can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Lawson is looking to escape. Deeds get's back to his feet. Karl Lawson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lawson rushes Deeds and presses him up against the cage. Deeds can't break the clinch.

Lawson is trying to control the position but Deeds postures up. Lawson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Deeds defends well. Deeds passes Lawson's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Deeds is keen to just control but Lawson is a slippery customer. Deeds controlling the pace. Lawson avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Deeds. Lawson tries to kick Deeds off but Deeds keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Deeds is working for a kimura but Lawson is defending it quite comfortably.
Deeds is thwarting Lawson's attempts to control the position. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Lawson looking for submissions off his back. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Lawson counters with a leg kick. Deeds shoots in and gets a takedown into Lawson's guard. Lawson can't keep his opponent in guard - Deeds advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Deeds is looking for a kimura here.

Deeds wants to work for an arm triangle but Lawson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lawson regains full guard. Nicely done. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lawson working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Deeds has passed into half guard!
Deeds seems to be looking for submissions.
Lawson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Deeds is working away from the top position though. Deeds is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Lawson has managed to free his arm - good work. Lawson looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lawson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Deeds works his foot free and advances to mount. Deeds wants to finish this one by submission but Lawson is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Deeds. Lawson tries to hold on but Deeds pushes him away. Deeds trying to control but he's not successful this time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Deeds jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Lawson is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Lawson and Deeds has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Deeds throws a strike aimed at the side of Lawson's head but Lawson avoids it well. Lawson is trying to control Deeds's posture but Deeds avoids it. Deeds thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Lawson pushes Deeds away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Deeds gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Deeds looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Lawson is avoiding damage well.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Lawson is looking for a sweep. Longfellow Deeds overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Lawson struggling a bit here. Deeds is looking to take a break and control but Lawson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Lawson manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Lawson prevents Deeds from improving his position. Deeds actively working from the bottom here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Lawson lands with an uppercut that bounces Deeds off the cage and back into range. Lawson connects with a leg kick. Deeds looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Deeds misses with a right hand and Lawson counters with a nice body shot. Deeds misses with a hook. Deeds steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Lawson. That one must have hurt. Deeds thows a body shot but no joy. Deeds checks a leg kick. Lawson tries to clinch up but Deeds circles away and keeps his distance. Lawson fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Deeds closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Lawson is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Deeds is controlling him well. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Deeds is looking to take a break and control but Lawson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Deeds working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Lawson is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Lawson tries to get back to half guard but can't. Lawson is not content to let Deeds control the position.

After a battle for position, Deeds asserts his dominance and retains side control. Karl Lawson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Deeds has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Lawson gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Deeds seems to be looking for submissions.

No, Lawson has managed to free his arm - good work. Lawson gets full guard. Deeds wants to pass the guard but Lawson is keeping the position. Longfellow Deeds is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Deeds stands and throws Lawson's legs to the side, diving into side control. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Deeds trying to control the action but Lawson is working from the bottom. Deeds thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Longfellow Deeds. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Deeds, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Longfellow Deeds! After the fight, Longfellow Deeds was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
