Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Niall William Quinn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Josh Burns! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Ackerman and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Quinn misses with a looping right. Quinn with a poor takedown and Burns counters by moving into the clinch. Burns works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Quinn has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Burns can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Quinn working a defensive guard here.
Burns wants to control from the top but Quinn keeps moving. Quinn is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Burns is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Burns with a flurry of punches that miss. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Burns pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Quinn is keeping the position for now. Burns throwing strikes but missing. Quinn is trying to control the position but Burns postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Quinn is looking for a triangle but Burns pushes his legs off easily.
Burns working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Quinn escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Burns gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Burns landing some decent shots from guard. Burns lands a couple of digs. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Quinn preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Burns with a flurry of punches that miss. Quinn looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Burns wants to control from the top but Quinn keeps moving. Burns connects with a couple of short punches. Burns scoring with punches to the head and body.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Quinn working for a triangle but Burns defends it easily.
Quinn is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Burns with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Burns stands and throws Quinn's legs to the side, diving into side control. Burns looks up at the clock and then as Quinn takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Burns smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Burns trying to control the action but Quinn is working from the bottom. Burns scoring with punches from side control. Burns lands a decent elbow from side control. Quinn might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Burns trying to control the position but Quinn is working away. Burns creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Burns scores with punches from side control. Burns stands up. Burns has taken the fight to the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A right hand to the body from Burns.
Burns connects with a knee to the head.
It looks like Niall William Quinn has been cut. Quinn fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Burns lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Burns utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Burns gets a trip takedown into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Burns connects with a nice short shot to Quinn's temple. Burns is trying to work for a kimura but Quinn is defending well.
Burns working over Quinn with some ground and pound. Quinn looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Quinn has hold of Burns's hands but Burns slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Quinn taking some punishment here, with Burns in his half guard. Burns escapes and gets back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Burns fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Quinn, pushing him back against the cage. Burns gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Burns scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Burns is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Nice strikes from Burns there. Quinn on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Burns stands up and beckons Quinn to join him on the feet. Burns shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Burns landing shots from mount. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Burns in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Burns is in full mount looking to finish with strikes. He lands a big shot, followed by another and Quinn goes limp! The ref jumps in to end the fight - a big win for Burns!
