And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dominick Aldo!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez slaps away a takedown attempt from Aldo, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Aldo closes the distance but Alvarez moves to the side
enabling Alvarez to counter with a crisp jab.
Aldo looks to clinch
and Alvarez counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Aldo's guard now.
Aldo is rocked!
Alvarez makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Aldo is still in real trouble! Can Alvarez finish him?
Aldo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Alvarez works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Alvarez lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Aldo! More strikes land and this one is all over! Alvarez jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Eddie Alvarez!
