PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Doe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Barton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Doe comes to the cage accompanied by A Taste Of Regret. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Doe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Barton!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doe misses with a head kick.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Barton checks a leg kick.

Barton darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Barton lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Doe is trying to maintain the position but Barton is very close to passing his half guard.
Barton not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Barton is trying to control the action in half guard but Doe is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Barton prevents Doe from improving his position.
Well, if Barton is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Doe is refusing to be controlled, as Barton sits in half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jack Barton.
Barton throws a leg kick but Doe sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Doe misses with a low kick.
Barton tries for a takedown but Doe sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Jack Barton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A telegraphed right hand from Barton misses the target.
Doe does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Doe fails to land with a series of punches.
Sloppy strikes from Doe. Those never looked like landing.
Doe throws a head kick but Barton moves out of range.
Barton throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Barton has a takedown stuffed.
Doe scoring well with a low kick there.

Doe clinches up against the cage.
Barton digs a right hand into Doe's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Doe's gas tank.
Doe looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Barton escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Barton tries a head kick but it misses.
Doe lands a body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Barton checks a low kick from Doe.
Barton throws a sloppy head kick and Doe moves out of range easily.
Doe slips a jab and a cross from Barton.
That kick from Doe tenderised Barton's leg. Barton is trying to keep his angry face on.
Barton avoids the head kick by Doe.
Barton digs a good body shot into Doe's ribs.
Doe explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Doe. Barton shrugs it off though.
Barton looks gassed!
Barton throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Barton shoots in for a takedown but Doe shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
John Doe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Barton.
Barton is trying hard to land a takedown here. Doe sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Doe throws a solid leg kick but Barton takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Doe.
Barton blocks a head kick by Doe.
Barton walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Barton throws a body kick that misses.
Doe fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Barton has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Doe misses with a double jab.
Barton misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
An inside leg kick lands from Doe.
Doe thows a body kick. Barton tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Barton chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Doe can pounce on him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Doe throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Doe goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Doe dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Barton. That did some damage!
Doe connects with a solid leg kick.
Doe fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Barton is out of range.
Barton tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Barton looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Doe with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Doe paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Doe lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Doe throws a leg kick which misses Barton's front leg but catches the back leg as Barton tries to avoid it.
Barton takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Barton takes one to the side of the head.
A slapping leg kick lands for Doe.
Nice cross by Doe.
Doe chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Barton ducks under a wild hook from Doe.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Doe lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
A nice inside leg kick there by Doe. That's going to slow Barton down.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Doe moves into range and clinches up with Barton.

Doe breaks from the clinch.
Doe feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Barton's calf.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Barton tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Doe taking a breather.

Doe breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Doe connects with a looping right hand.
Barton doesn't manage to clinch there - Doe circles away.
Doe lands a nice leg kick that just misses Barton's sensitive parts.
A solid leg kick lands there for Doe.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Doe scores with a nice head shot.
Barton tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Barton looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Doe is fending him off so far but Barton persists. Nope, Doe circles away and we're back to standing.
Doe lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Doe dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Doe circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Barton drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Doe follows Barton to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Doe!
After the big win, John Doe made sure to do all the important stuff like thanking his sponsors Springfield HW Nutrition and telling the interviewer how much he loves him.
