Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Justin Hodges (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wanderlei Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Justin Hodges!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wanderlei Silva!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hodges.
Good work by Silva as he checks the leg kick.
Silva doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Hodges counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A right-left combo lands from Hodges.
No luck for Silva with that takedown attempt.
Silva wants to clinch.
Hodges throws a right hand that misses

and Silva moves into the clinch.
Silva tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Hodges avoids it.
Hodges is pressed up against the cage. Silva has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hodges down to the mat. Hodges avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Justin Hodges has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wanderlei Silva.

Silva drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hodges gets the underhooks and prevents it.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Silva looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hodges stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Silva swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hodges got a little sloppy there for a moment and Silva has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hodges has managed to get both his arms back between Silva's legs - danger averted.
Hodges knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Silva on the ground.

Hodges slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Hodges remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Hodges is just content to waste time from the top position. Silva takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Silva tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hodges sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Silva somewhat.

Hodges is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hodges, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
