Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Serra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Probert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Probert has chosen lunatic fringe as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shane Probert! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, David Schapiro and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Serra looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Probert trying to control here.
Serra winds up and cracks Probert with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Probert trying to control here.
Serra is looking for a kimura but Probert is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Serra to get the leverage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Probert desperately trying to maintain half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Serra slows the pace down in half guard. Serra is looking to take a break and control but Probert is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Probert is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Serra pulls his head out easily. Serra stalling. Serra stops Probert from getting back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Serra works a leg free and moves into half guard. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Serra lands a nice short elbow. Probert is refusing to be controlled, as Serra sits in half guard. Serra throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Probert wants to get back to his feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Serra misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Probert throws a sloppy head kick and Serra moves out of range easily. Serra on the wrong end of a nice hook. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Serra. Serra is breathing heavily. Probert wants to clinch. Probert misses with a head kick.

Probert throws a push kick but Serra slaps the foot to one side. Shane Probert seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Probert misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Probert does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Serra throws a leg kick but Probert checks it. Serra moves out of range of the body kick from Probert.

Serra gets a takedown into half guard. Probert is looking to control Serra's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Probert avoid being mounted? Probert tries to close the distance and clinch but Serra swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Probert thows a body kick. Serra tries to catch it but that hurt him. Serra steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Probert. That one must have hurt. Serra could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Probert fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Probert keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Serra throws a head kick but Probert moves out of range.
Serra closes this distance looking for a takedown but Probert circles away. Serra keeps the fight on the outside. Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Probert. Serra shrugs it off though. Probert throws a combination. Serra tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Serra feints and as Probert raises his hands in defense, Serra changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Serra has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Serra distracts Probert with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Probert is breathing heavily. Serra missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Serra pushing down on Probert's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. This has been an exciting period of action! Probert is refusing to be controlled, as Serra sits in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Serra passes to side control. Probert is looking to get back to his feet here but Serra is keeping cool and he's managed to take Probert's back. Serra controlling well, preventing Probert from escaping the position.

Serra is looking to take a break and control but Probert is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Ground and pound from Serra. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Probert is controlling Serra's trapped leg to prevent Serra from advancing to side control. Serra trying to control the action but Probert is working from the bottom. Serra lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Probert trying to get back to full guard but Serra takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Serra working Probert over with strikes here. Probert is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Probert tries to reverse the position but Serra maintains control. Probert is squirming around, avoiding Serra's attempts to control the action. Probert tries to lock up and control but Serra gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Serra is in the full mount, landing strikes. Serra unloading with bombs! Serra landing strikes, looking to finish! Both fighters are breathing heavily.
