Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kalervo Kolli!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
15 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kushin Takahashi!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Matti Vanhoillinen and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kolli lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Takahashi circles away quickly and effectively.
Takahashi connects with a right hand. Kolli shakes it off.
Takahashi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kolli is fending him off so far but Takahashi persists. Nope, Kolli circles away and we're back to standing.
Takahashi drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Kolli is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Takahashi is controlling him.
Takahashi thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Takahashi advances position into side control!
Kolli is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Takahashi has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Kolli knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Takahashi on the ground.
Takahashi is working to tighten is grip on Kolli's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Kolli has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Takahashi is really squeezing tight and eventually Kolli passes out! Takahashi breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Kushin Takahashi!
A very excited looking Kushin Takahashi made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
