The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Elvis Blanc and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hewson fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Strings looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Hewson's corner calls for a 1-2. Hewson obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Strings defending well as Hewson loads up on a big left hand.
Strings defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hewson.
Hewson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hewson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Hewson with shots to the head and body - Strings looks very uncomfortable down there.
BOOM! Hewson connects with a massive shot to the dome!
It looks like Sergeant Strings has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Strings is bucking up trying to escape but Hewson cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
A big strike lands for Hewson! That's really hurt Strings and he's turned his back - Hewson keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Hewson jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Paul Hewson!
