The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Samoan throws a series of punches but Askren avoids them all with ease.

Askren closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Askren lands in his opponent's guard.
Askren with a flurry of punches that miss.

The Samoan wriggles free and stands up.
Ben Askren seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Askren will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
The Samoan stuffs the takedown.

and The Samoan counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Askren thinking.

The Samoan connects with a good right hand that stumbles Askren. Askren circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

The Samoan lands a left and a right that send Askren crashing to the mat, dazed. The Samoan thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
