Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Artem Ibragimov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Junior Tyson! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Viktor Lagutenko and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tyson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ibragimov, pushing him back against the cage. Ibragimov pulls Tyson into guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Tyson wants to stand and escape but instead Ibragimov has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Ibragimov missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Ibragimov is looking to stand up but Tyson won't let him. Tyson pulls Ibragimov in close to prevent any damage. Ibragimov postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Ibragimov postures up in Tyson's guard and throws a big left but Tyson blocks it. Tyson keeping full guard, as Ibragimov tries to pass. Tyson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ibragimov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ibragimov throws a big elbow that misses. Ibragimov stands up over Tyson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Tyson is trying to control the position but Ibragimov postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tyson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Ibragimov slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Ibragimov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Tyson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Ibragimov landing some decent shots from guard. Ibragimov wants to control from the top but Tyson keeps moving. Tyson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Tyson controls Ibragimov momentarily but Ibragimov frees himself. Tyson wants to sweep but no luck.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ibragimov throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Ibragimov shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Ibragimov prevents Tyson from getting the reversal. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ibragimov landing punches. Ibragimov postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Tyson looks a forlorn figure.
Tyson takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Ibragimov's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Artem Ibragimov! A relieved looking Artem Ibragimov thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
