Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hakeem Nicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nicks comes to the cage accompanied by You Suck. Hughes comes into a darkened arena with his song building. A Country Boy Can Survive kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Matt Hughes will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hakeem Nicks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matt Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nicks wants to clinch.

Nicks fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Hughes to the ground. Nicks is now in Hughes's guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Nicks showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Hughes keeping full guard, as Nicks tries to pass.
Nicks wants to control from the top but Hughes keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Hakeem Nicks.
Nicks tries to bum rush Hughes with a series of wild strikes but Hughes uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nicks has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hughes is working away from the top position though.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Nicks slaps away a takedown attempt from Hughes, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Nicks manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hughes on his heels. He'll look to pass Hughes's guard now, I'm sure.

Nicks feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Matt Hughes hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Nicks throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hughes tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Nicks is in Hughes's guard.
