Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Veldrane Sengir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Malmsteen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Malmsteen has chosen Yngwie Malmsteen - Rise up as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Veldrane Sengir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, James Malmsteen!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Arvi Lind and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Malmsteen changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sengir looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Sengir struggling a bit here.

Malmsteen goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Sengir has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Malmsteen but great work by Sengir.

Sengir tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sengir has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Malmsteen tries to escape but Sengir is in control.
You can see the frustration on Malmsteen's face as Sengir controls the position.
Malmsteen can't do much from the bottom here.
Sengir wants to lay and pray for a moment but Malmsteen keeps working.
Sengir is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Malmsteen will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Malmsteen is pushing Sengir's head away, looking to escape. Sengir manages to hold on to the position though.

Sengir decides to stand up, so the ref orders Malmsteen to his feet.

Sengir tries to keep at a distance but Malmsteen has taken the fight into the clinch.
Malmsteen is pressed up against the cage. Sengir has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Malmsteen down to the mat. Malmsteen avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Sengir misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Sengir is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Sengir on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Sengir tries to clinch up.
Malmsteen lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.


It looks like Veldrane Sengir has been cut.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Malmsteen fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sengir, pushing him back against the cage.
A nice left hand lands by Malmsteen.

Malmsteen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Sengir sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
James Malmsteen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sengir is breathing heavily.
Sengir shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Malmsteen defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Veldrane Sengir. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Malmsteen closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Malmsteen manages to break the clinch.
Sengir misses with a takedown attempt - Malmsteen sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Sengir shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Malmsteen closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sengir to the mat! Sengir manages to get full guard.

Malmsteen has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sengir is proving hard to escape from.

Malmsteen decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Malmsteen cracks a nice hook into Sengir's ribs.
Malmsteen digs a good hook to Sengir's body.

Malmsteen shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Malmsteen gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Malmsteen shoots in but Sengir avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Malmsteen is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.


Veldrane Sengir's cut is getting worse.
Malmsteen fails to land the takedown.

Sengir tries to keep at a distance but Malmsteen has taken the fight into the clinch.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Sengir tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Malmsteen lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Malmsteen lands with an uppercut that bounces Sengir off the cage and back into range.
Sengir shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Malmsteen sprawls well. Malmsteen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sengir gets slowly back to his feet.
Sengir moves to clinch but Malmsteen breaks away

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
and Malmsteen counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Sengir's guard now.

Malmsteen stands and steps away. Sengir gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Malmsteen moves into the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sengir swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Malmsteen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Sengir throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Malmsteen's waist but Malmsteen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sengir off to one side.
Sengir closes this distance looking for a takedown but Malmsteen circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Veldrane Sengir. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Sengir gets tackled into the cage by Malmsteen. Malmsteen maintains the clinch.
Malmsteen gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Sengir.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Malmsteen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Sengir gets tackled into the cage by Malmsteen. Malmsteen maintains the clinch.
Malmsteen lands with a left to the head.
Malmsteen missing with knees to the body.

Malmsteen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sengir takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Malmsteen feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Sengirs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Sengir shoots in but Malmsteen avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Malmsteen fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

An uppercut to the body lands inside from Malmsteen.
Malmsteen lands a body punch.
Sengir tries for a takedown but Malmsteen manages to get underhooks.
Malmsteen works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Still in the clinch, Malmsteen scores with a nice short uppercut.


Veldrane Sengir's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Malmsteen lands a hook that snaps the head of Sengir backwards.

Sengir stops Malmsteen from standing up.

Sengir avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Malmsteen is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Sengir won't allow Malmsteen to get back to his feet.

Malmsteen throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sengir.
Sengir takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Malmsteen lands with a kick to the temple. Sengir shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Malmsteen lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Malmsteen darts in and clinches Sengir up against the cage.
Sengir is looking for a takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Malmsteen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Sengir's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Sengir. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jeez, Veldrane Sengir's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Malmsteen has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Malmsteen lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Sengir backwards.
Sengir has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Malmsteen avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Malmsteen pushes Sengir back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
A right handed body shot lands from Malmsteen.
Malmsteen lands with a short head shot on the inside.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Veldrane Sengir's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). James Malmsteen!
In his post fight interview, James Malmsteen started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
