PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shogun Tua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Shogun Tua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Sam Bob!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Colin Fotheringham and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tua tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bob swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Tua shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Tua knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bob on the ground.
Tua avoids the attempt from Bob to control.
Tua throws some wild stikes that Bob manages to avoid easily.
Bob is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Bob wants to hold on but Tua pushes him away.

Tua swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Bob is now in Tua's guard. A big mistake from Tua there, giving up the dominant position!
Tua has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bob prevents Tua from getting back to his feet.
Tua keeping moving, preventing Bob from controlling successfully.
Bob trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Bob not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Tua is looking to stand back up but Bob counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Tua.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bob slips into full mount, dodging the strikes by Tua.
Tua on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Tua tries to get out of the position.
Bob looking to control but Tua is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tua taking shots to the head.
Bob takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tua tries to lock up and control but Bob gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Tua tries to reverse the position but Bob maintains control.
Bob raining down shots from the mount!

Bob is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Bob clinches with his opponent.

Tua jumps guard.
Bob postures up in Tua's guard and throws a big left but Tua blocks it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tua wants to sweep but no luck.
Tua is working hard here to advance position.
Tua tries to strike from the bottom.
Tua looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bob is one step ahead there.
Tua is breathing heavily.
Tua is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bob trying to control but Tua is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam Bob dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Bob drives through and clinches with Tua against the cage.
Bob dodges an elbow strike from Tua.
Tua is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Tua.
Tua can't break the clinch.
Bob lands a knee to the head.
Bob prevents Tua from breaking the clinch.

Bob breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Bob circles away from the clinch attempt.
Bob tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bob drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Tua keeping moving, preventing Bob from controlling successfully.
Bob passes into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Bob wants to work for an arm triangle but Tua is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Bob is breathing heavily.
Tua is trying to control but can't.
Tua is looking to improve his position.
Bob looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Tua with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Bob moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Tua.
Tua is trying to control Bob's posture but Bob avoids it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Tua tries to bench press Bob off him but Bob keeps the position.
Tua is trying to control Bob's posture but Bob avoids it.
Tua is trying to get back to half guard.
Tua could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Tua is trying to escape the position but Bob is controlling the position.
Tua trying to control but Bob flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bob not allowing Tua to control his hands.
Bob controlling the position well here. Tua rolled but Bob kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Tua is really stuck here.
Bob has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Tua's body.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Tua's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Bob not allowing Tua to control his hands.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Tua trying to get back to his feet but Bob is in full control for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam Bob showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Tua thows a body shot but no joy.
Bob misses with a takedown

and Tua counters with a shoot takedown. Bob fights it but they end up in guard.
Bob is trying to keep Tua in close.
Tua looking to sit in guard and control but Bob gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Tua tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bob takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Bob pushing down on Tua's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Bob is looking to take a break and control but Tua is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bob thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Bob prevents Tua from standing back up.
Bob prevents Tua from improving his position.

Bob is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Tua is trying to stand up here but Bob is controlling him well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Bob avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Tua decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Bob trying to hold on to Tua's head to control him but Tua postures up.

Tua postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Bob to stand up.

Bob darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Bob is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Tua on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tua is looking for a sweep. Bob is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Bob prevents Tua from standing back up.
Sam Bob has got the better of the ground game so far.
Tua trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Tua is working to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Tua tries to hold on but Bob postures up.
Tua is wriggling around trying to escape.
Tua reaches up to try and control the position but Bob seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Tua rolls and tries to escape and now Bob has his back!
Tua can't escape the position.
Bob struggling to keep hold of the position.
Tua looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
Shogun Tua showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Bob has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision.
