PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Phoenix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Phoenix's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Dream Big - Crooked I feat Akon. Black has chosen Disturbed - Indestructible as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Matt Black told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matt Black!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the liver by Black. Beautiful body shot.
Black fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Phoenix is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Black bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Phoenix's head backwards.
Black lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Phoenix fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Black manages to avoid it.
Black moves out of range as Phoenix strikes.
Black pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Phoenix shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Black misses with a wild body shot.
Phoenix tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Black was well out of range. Poor timing from Phoenix.
Phoenix throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Phoenix takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Phoenix scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Black steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Phoenix.
Black ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Black misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Phoenix.
Black waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Phoenix.
Phoenix throws a hook to the side of Black's head but Black sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Black connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Black connects with a looping right hand.
Phoenix on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Black. Black obviously looking to wear him down.
Phoenix misses with a straight right.
Black connects with an inside leg kick.
Phoenix takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Black throws a combination. Phoenix tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Phoenix is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Phoenix on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Black looks to score with a jab to the body but Phoenix is just out of range.
Phoenix ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Black moves away.
Black throws a nice head kick!
Black misses with a hook. Phoenix ducked under it nicely.
A cross from Black lands.

Phoenix is rocked!
Black thumps Phoenix with a low kick.
Oh Phoenix is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Phoenix drops his hands momentarily and Black takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Black connects with an inside leg kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Black throws out a powerful jab.
Black has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Black there as he acknowledges the shot.
Black lands with a big left! Phoenix is wobbled badly! Black comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Phoenix to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Matt Black!
