The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yzerman closes the distance and pushes Smok back into the cage. Yzerman pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Smok misses with a takedown attempt and Yzerman counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Janek Smok seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Yzerman has managed to clinch.
Yzerman escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Smok shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Yzerman but Yzerman pushes him off and we're back to square one. Yzerman fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Smok, pushing him back against the cage. Smok jumps guard but Yzerman turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Janek Smok. That's going to take a lot out of him. Smok tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Yzerman smiles and moves away.

Yzerman throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Smok was covering up waiting for the punch and Yzerman finishes the takedown easily into guard. Yzerman wants to stand but Smok is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yzerman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Smok has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Yzerman has managed to get both his arms back between Smok's legs - danger averted. Smok has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Yzerman should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Smok has tightened it up now! Yzerman should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
