Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Julius Steel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bobby Helix! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sloppy strikes from Steel. Those never looked like landing. Steel misses with the combination.
Steel tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Steel is looking to clinch. Steel throws a right and a left that Helix avoids nicely. No joy there for Steel, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Steel lands a jab-cross combination. Steel misses with a jab, cross combination.
Steel blocks a jab. Steel on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Helix. Helix obviously looking to wear him down.
Steel misses with an uppercut. Helix saw that one coming.
That's one minute gone in the round. Steel looks to land a combination but Helix avoids it well. A telegraphed right hand from Steel misses the target. Helix throws a front kick aimed at Steel's knee but Steel avoids it well. No joy there for Steel, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Steel throws a combination. Helix tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Steel looks to land a right hand but Helix moved out of range. Steel keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Helix throws a hook to the side of Steel's head but Steel sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Helix drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Helix won't allow Steel to sweep him here. Steel will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Helix forces his way into half guard. Helix is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Helix frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Steel is squirming around, avoiding Helix's attempts to control the action. Steel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Helix on the ground. Helix dominating with strikes here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Helix wants to control the pace but Steel is squirming around nicely. Helix jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Steel is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Steel and Helix has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Steel takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Helix controls the position. Helix scoring with punches from side control. The ground and pound from Helix seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Steel regains half guard there - taking advantage of Helix's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Helix working Steel over with strikes. Helix thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Helix stops Steel from getting back to his feet.

Steel is breathing heavily. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Steel taking some punishment here, with Helix in his half guard. Helix is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Steel sees it coming and defends easily. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Helix is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Helix missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Helix lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Steel has hold of Helix's hands but Helix slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Helix is thwarting Steel's attempts to control the position. Steel avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Helix. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bobby Helix dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Helix shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Steel as he avoids it easily. Steel lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Julius Steel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Steel bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Helix's head. Helix throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Helix is trying hard to land a takedown here. Steel sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Helix swats away the attempt to clinch by Steel. Helix keeps the fight on the outside. Steel moves forwards but Helix connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Steel tries to close the distance and clinch but Helix swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Steel throws a series of punches but Helix avoids them all with ease. Sloppy strikes from Steel. Those never looked like landing. Helix looks to score with a jab to the body but Steel is just out of range. Steel throws a series of punches but Helix moves out of range. Steel fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Helix fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Julius Steel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby Helix. Helix dodges the punch combination from Steel.
Helix lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Steel stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Helix. Helix tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Steel was well out of range. Poor timing from Helix. Sloppy strikes from Steel. Those never looked like landing. Steel throws a right hand that Helix ducks under and follows up with a left that Helix also avoids with ease. Steel moves out of range as Helix throws a body kick.
Helix shoots in and drives through. Steel sprawls well. A nice leg kick lands there from Helix. Helix feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Helix pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Steel is keeping the position for now. Helix in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Helix has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Helix is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Helix is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Steel is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Steel has escaped and now he's on top! Helix is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Steel is trying to stand back up but Helix is controlling him
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Steel is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Helix scores with a couple of nice shots. Steel on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Steel tries to get out of the position. Helix trying to control the pace. Helix takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Helix seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Bobby Helix has got the better of the ground game so far. Helix working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. This has been an exciting period of action! Helix seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Steel is looking to improve his position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Helix scoring with strikes to the body and head. Helix landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bobby Helix showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Good leg kick by Helix there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

and Helix counters with a thumping low kick. Steel stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Steel wants it to stay on the feet. No joy there for Steel, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Helix throws a body punch but Steel moves out of range. Julius Steel is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Helix misses with a jab to the body
and Steel counters with a stiff right hand. Some wild striking there from Steel.
Helix throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
That's one minute gone in the round. Helix gets the takedown into side control. Helix cracks Steel with a big elbow. Steel tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Helix wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Helix is chipping away with strikes.
Helix working the ground and pound. Steel holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage. Helix throws a strike aimed at the side of Steel's head but Steel avoids it well. Helix lands a nice forearm strike. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Helix in side control, throwing shots but Steel defends. Helix wants to control but Steel is keeping him busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Steel tries to escape but Helix is in control. Helix has hold of Steel's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Steel tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Helix cranks the arm and Steel screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Steel, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
