PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joseph Morris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dexter Kinley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Morris might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Ain't No Make Believe. Kinley has chosen Prodigy - Diesel Power as his entrance music. Joseph Morris has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Joseph Morris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dexter Kinley!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Glass and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Kinley does no damage.
Dexter Kinley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kinley takes the fight into the clinch.
Kinley tries to break the clinch but Morris is controlling the position.

Morris is trying to trip Kinley. He has hold of a leg but Kinley is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Morris persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Morris passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.
Morris drops an elbow to the side of Kinley's head.
Kinley is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Morris scores with a couple of nice shots.

Kinley working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Morris doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Morris manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kinley isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Morris stacks Kinley on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Morris!
Morris creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Morris tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kinley is on top in guard.
Kinley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Morris swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kinley is looking to stand up but Morris won't let him.

Kinley wants to control but Morris is having none of it.

Kinley is looking to improve his position but Morris isn't that keen on the idea.
Kinley bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Morris wants to sweep but no luck.
Kinley tries to free his leg and advance position but Morris is retaining full guard.
Kinley throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Morris works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kinley drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kinley jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Morris throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Kinley tries to bum rush Morris with a series of wild strikes but Morris uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kinley avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kinley throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
No joy there for Morris, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kinley shoots and misses
and Morris counters with a three punch combo that has Kinley backing up. Kinley nods at Morris to acknowledge the strikes.

Morris darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.


Kinley is rocked!
Kinley throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Morris throws a strike but Kinley avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Morris would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joseph Morris dominated that round.
That's time! Morris's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Nice takedown defense from Kinley. No joy for Morris on that attempt.
Kinley shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Morris but Morris pushes him off and we're back to square one.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kinley is desperately trying to improve his position but Morris has a good base and remains in mount.
Joseph Morris overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kinley is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Morris's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Morris's back!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kinley has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Morris! Can he survive? No! He's out! Kinley gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Dexter Kinley!
